3DReid is thrilled to announce that plans for the refurbishment and extension of The Rutland Arms Hotel, Newmarket, have been approved by West Suffolk Council.
This Grade II listed building sits within Newmarket’s conservation area and is surrounded by a number of listed buildings and a rich variety of architectural styles and materials. 3DReid have spent the last year understanding the history of the hotel and its context, and have carefully crafted a concept and design that will continue the rich story of this site, which dates back to 1815. The architecture and interiors will be gently restored and a new palette of furniture and fabrics will breathe new life into this once grand coaching inn.
The annex building on Palace Street is an ‘intrusion’ and blight on the historical context. It will be replaced with a beautiful new purpose-built offer of 43 additional bedrooms and dedicated staff facilities. This new building will greatly enhance the overall offer of the hotel, while encouraging visitors as well as providing additional employment for twenty people. With a subtle palette of cream and warm rough-cut gault brickwork, slate tiled roofing and stone detailing, we have created a striking building. While modern and efficient in its construction methods, the design proportions and materials will allow the new building to cleverly fit in amongst its older neighbours.
3DReid is working with Review Hotels Ltd on their ambitious architectural and interior design plans to deliver a rejuvenated mid luxury hotel offer in Newmarket.
