We are delighted that Phase 1 of our scheme with Vastint Hospitality at New Fountainbridge, Edinburgh is complete. This first phase, completed in February 2021, comprises a 262 bedroom Moxy hotel, 5,500m2 of Grade A office space and other commercial and retail units plus a dynamic and inclusive public realm.
The brand new Moxy hotel is centrally located on Freer Gait and has a fabulous rooftop bar with stunning views of Edinburgh Castle. Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge also boasts two high-tech meeting rooms and a 24-hour fitness centre. The site used to be home to the renowned Fountainbridge Brewery. Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge will stay true to its historic site with a beer and hops concept. Oversized beer tanks will greet guests on arrival with beer lines strategically located throughout the stylish communal areas. The rooftop bar and terrace will serve tapas, speciality cocktails and Scottish and international craft beers, with a steer on more unusual pints not commonly found on the high street.
No.2 Freer St office building complements the adjacent Moxy Hotel. A generous two-storey colonnade defines the entrance to the building while the top storey steps back from Fountainbridge providing a roof terrace for occupants, with excellent views. Office accommodation is arranged around the three perimeter sides to maximise daylight and ensure maximum flexibility. Spaces can be let to one tenant, or sub-divided into smaller units with a large, shared, open plan reception at ground.
Phase 2 of the New Fountainbridge Scheme will compliment the Moxy Hotel and Office building with 253 residential units, various ground floor uses set within a public realm masterplan of pedestrian routes and green spaces which will re-connect Fountainbridge to the Union Canal. 3DReid worked collaboratively with Vastint Hospitality on the development masterplan and design of both phases.
