A new build Community Nursery including parent touch down working space. The brief and form of the building is a direct response to a series of Workshops undertaken with Mull and Iona Community Trust. From the outset a clear concept of an indoor / outdoor nursery drove the scheme design. We supported the Trust’s remit to address the lack of flexible childcare on the island.
Structured around a series of consultations, with both the community and key stakeholders, a scheme was produced which provides a flexible and characterful care and learning environment, maximising its engagement with the surrounding landscape, the site being located on the edge of forestry land.
During the consultation process a programme of on island workshops and public consultations provided engagement with the community, client and potential users. Workshop methods varied in response to attendees, with 3DReid keen to ensure all age groups could understand and engage in the process.
