In July we announced the winner of the Lee Harris bursary 2024 was Amelia Terry for her application of ‘Modernisation at a Cost: Japan’s Vanishing Architectural Heritage.’ The Lee Harris Bursary commemorates a talented colleague and his girlfriend, Sam, who we very sadly lost in the 2005 London Bombings. Inspired by Lee’s love of photography, travel and architecture, the bursary was established to provide an opportunity for the young designers of 3DReid to travel anywhere in the world and explore their architectural passions. In October Amelia travelled to Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka to understand how Japan is balancing modern urbanisation with the preservation of its rich architectural legacy or whether it is leading towards a homogenised urban landscape. Throughout the trip, Amelia continued to explore and adapt to the culture and traditions surrounding her, whether it be the food, the fashion, or the bustling night life, she was able to integrate into these amazing environments. Amelia presented a beautiful and fascinating landscape through captivating photography, video, and various culinary delights to current and former members of our London studio and Lee’s parents, Lynn and Brian who have attended every presentation given since the bursary was started in 2006.

How do you make virtual work experience inclusive and engaging?
Collaboration is key and this year’s three-day work experience for 40+ students through the fantastic charity @speakersforschools was a whistle-stop tour of the built environment sector.
In total 18 internal and external specialists shared their knowledge and experience with the students. We know that at 17 you may not know the breadth of career opportunities in this sector, so we shared the platform with:
These collaborators helped us to deliver a series of talks on the subjects of; masterplanning, developing sites, concept design, designing for wellbeing, engineering, technical design, landscape design, construction and sustainability.
We set collaborative and individual design tasks each day so that the students had the opportunity to practice the skills in design, collaboration and communication needed in this industry and start to build a portfolio and knowledge to support future applications for work or college....
Now in its 18th year, 3DReid are delighted to return once again with our Student Prize!
The prize is open for Part II Architecture students across all schools of architecture in the UK. Entry is by nomination only, and tutors are invited to submit a student to represent their university by the 14th June.
Should you wish to receive a nomination form or hear more details, please get in touch at student_prize@3dreid.com....

Today we had an excellent CPD with @atrium.lighting who came in to our studio to talk about their product range and how they can help support us on our projects.
By including lighting at the early stages of design we can produce the best schemes - the difference between a badly lit and well-lit design is huge.
We covered brands, colour rendering, lighting control and everything in-between.

We are all immensely proud of what has been achieved to date and much of this is due to the strength of relationships we enjoy with our clients and co-collaborators, so thank you for being a part of our ongoing journey. We look forward to many more years of working with you on projects that we can all be proud of.

We are delighted to announce that our Central Quay project with @graemenichollsarchitects and @reform.landscape for Summix has been unanimously approved at Glasgow City Council Planning Committee this morning.
The mixed use development consists of residential for-sale properties, purpose built student accommodation and spaces for commercial use.
The urban strategy put placemaking at the heart of the design process for this brownfield site. An understanding of the history, stories and built fabric of this place have tailored a contextual response unique to Central Quay. We are very pleased to see it progress further.
