Congratulations to Callum Symmons and Thomas Whiting, winners of the Alexander Thomson Scholarship 2024.
The Glasgow Institute of Architects (GIA), as Trustees of the Alexander Thomson Scholarship, announced the results of the 37th edition of the triennial competition.
This year’s edition was titled Re Imagine St Vincent Street. The competition sought to provoke a debate on how we re-use or occupy A-listed Buildings that have fallen vacant.
Callum Symmons, Architectural Assistant at 3DReid commented: “Thomas and I were very happy to receive this year’s Alexander Thomson Scholarship, especially given how important and urgent the theme of the competition is to Glasgow.”
Callum and Thomas’ proposal re-imagined St Vincent Street Church as a room for the city: an ongoing event of cultural activity and repair that could transform the building into a living, civic heart for Glasgow’s new residential centre.
