Bradley Sowter wins with his project: A Christmas Carol Film Sets
This year’s winner of the £1,000 3DReid Student Prize is Kent School of Architecture graduate Bradley Sowter for his scheme based on the narative of A Christmas Carol with an animation that captured the atmosphere and context of his proposal. Bradley designed temporary and permanent film sets that explored the themes of the tale and entwined themselves seamlessly into the fabric of London.
Competing against 6 other entries, Bradley won for the complexity of his thinking and detailed documentation of his vision. Mark Taylor, Chief Executive of 3DReid and one of the judges commented: ‘I think this is an education for us all about where architecture is going’
In total 25 schools nominated students in this year’s event. The other shortlisted students were:
- Kent Gin, University of Westminster with his ambitious scheme Admiralty Peninsula, Hong Kong came in second place
- Christina Agathangelou, Leicester School of Architecture, De Montfort University: The Forgotten Beauty, Natural Dyeing Plant, Leicester was placed third
- Ewan Hooper, Mackintosh School of Architecture with his project The Return of the Factory, Madrid won the online Public Vote with 423 ‘Likes’ on 3DReid’s Facebook page.
- Matthew Kernan, Queens University, Belfast: Canal Hostel, East London
- Oliver Hopwood, University of Northumbria: Campus for Planet Critical Technologies
- Fraser Wallis, University of Bath: Thermal Baths, Sarajevoo
