How to inspire the next generation.
Last week we had the privilege of hosting 35+ students for two days of virtual work experience through the charity Speakers for Schools.
The students participated in a series of insightful talks and learnt about masterplanning, orientation, sustainability, context, scale, proportions, buildability and other topics that inform the way we approach design every day.
The event also featured a panel discussion on the role of architecture within the broader construction industry with the kind participation of:
- Hannah Slade from Macgregor Smith talking about Landscape Design
- Nuala Wheatley from Lichfields explaining the Planning Process
- and Will Jeeps from Heyne Tillett Steel sharing his experience as an Engineer
The students were set a series of design challenges that showcased incredible creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. A sample of their impressive work can be viewed in the video below.
By partnering with the charity Speakers for Schools, we supported their mission to level the playing field for 11-19-year-olds from state schools and colleges. The charity provide work experience placements and inspirational talks typically accessible only to students from top independent schools.
We wish all the students the best of luck in their future careers!
